ADHD medications are not a cure, but instead will ease the symptoms only when it is active. The medications are more like eyeglasses that help to improve vision only when the eyeglasses are worn. ADHD medications work differently for everyone, and your physician will figure out which medicine works best for you and at what dosage. You can expect a medication trial period that starts with a lower dose and gradually increases in intervals, depending on each patient.
Regular visits to a therapist can help educate yourself on the disorder and how it is impacting your life. A therapist can help manage the disorganization or any other life struggles that you’re facing. This is also a good idea for family members to take part in so they can support you and educate their self on your new diagnosis.
